KINZOOGIANNA
BIOGRAPHY
Kinzoogianna AKA Anna Stubbs is a multi-talented producer, record label owner, songwriter, pianist and singer who, with her band Brotherly, forged new ground in London’s exploding Nu Jazz, Broken Beat and Jazztronica scene. Brotherly’s/Kinzoogianna's music has been championed by Gilles Peterson, Dom Servini, Kate Magic, Benji B, Jamie Cullum, Jazz Re:Refreshed, and Jacob Collier , and the singles 'Queendom of Sound' and 'Mind Your Business' have spent 3 months (Aug-Oct 2025)on JazzFm's B and C Playlist. Brotherly were nominated for BBC Radio 1 Worldwide best session of the year after recording for Gilles at Maida Vale Studios. In 2020 Whirlwind Recordings released a beautiful double vinyl collectors edition of their music 'Analects', with added guests, Donny McCaslin, Jason Rebello and Kaidi Tatham.
'Gold For The Hungry Souls' (2022) is the title of Stubbs’s debut album as a producer, drum programmer and recording engineer, singing all vocal parts, and playing all keyboard parts and percussion. An epic keys, synths, and vocal harmony driven collection, blending stories from her adventurous and turbulent California/Essex upbringing with her reflective time during the Covid Pandemic. The songs were written while transcribing and improvising over songs she loves by artists including Rotary Connection, Bill Evans, Herbie Hancock, Steely Dan, McCoy Tyner, Joni Mitchell, Stevie Wonder and Wayne Shorter. During this time she also recorded 'Shut This Down' with Shur-i-kan (on Lazy Days Recordings) and indulged in her other loves: Deep House, Electronica and Broken Beat. Having to record at home, in isolation, she threw herself into the process, using her trusty Nord, an SM7 mic, a UA 6176 Pre-amp, Logic Pro X software, YouTube tutorial videos and lots of red wine.
She collaborated with Rob Mullarkey (other half of Brotherly, Jacob Collier bassist, and the album's mixing engineer) and Richard Spaven (Jordan Rakei, Jose James, Ty) for this debut album, their virtuosity and reputation as the best drum and bass crew in London (possibly the world!) perfectly match her album's odd-time signatures, unexpected harmony and deeply personal subject matter.
'The Clique of '86' - Solo Album 2025
Her second album is due out Sep 12th 2025, and the first single 'Cherry Devoy' and accompanying dance video was released on May 17th 2024. The second single 'Back of the Bus' drops on August 9th 2024. This entirely solo album 'The Clique of '86,' is inspired by mid 80's UK culture and her experiences of school and music and the emerging house, hip hop and electro scene.
'Nancy Nice and Nasty' dropped on November 8th 2024. It is the 3rd single off 'The Clique of '86' and tells a story about a night out in the mid 80s hunting down an illegal rave, with just a scrap of paper with a number on it. 'Bottle it Up' followed soon after, creating excitement in the beats world.
'Queendom of Sound (I Love Music) was released on July 29th 2025, and is a cover of Hale Smith's classic song I Love Music, and Amhad Jamal's and Nas's mind blowing recordings. It has further been expanded with Mark Force's (Bugz in the Attic) Drum and Bass remix.
Kinzoogianna's second self produced solo album 'The Clique of '86' centres around a cast of 80s Essex characters inspired by this genre breaking year in music. Ranging from broken beat and electro inspired tunes like Cherry Devoy and Bottle it Up, to the jazz funk classics of ‘Queendom of Sound’ (Hale Smith’s I Love Music) and ‘Back of the Bus’, Kinzoogianna showcases her drum programming, synth bass, keyboard, flute and vocal skills, forging new sounds, exploring classic 80s Indo-fusion (Springfield’s Uptune), broken Afro-beat (Mind Your Business) and early house (Nancy Nice and Nasty). Three dance videos accompany the album, with Kinzoogianna exploring body popping with the amazing UK dancer Jutsu (Cherry Devoy), car stunt adventures for Jaeq McFaeq and Lukey McCarKeys in Nancy Nice and Nasty, and a madcap day out with ‘Bestie Michelle’ on ‘Back of the Bus’.
Anna quotes ‘Written after a period of the consequences and subsequent coming to terms of my turbulent childhood, this album is my way of embracing all my sides, the defiant and rebellious ‘Stubbsy’ the nerdy and intellectual ‘Springfield’, the high and mighty ‘Queenie’ and, providing many laughs for his outrageous behaviour, the mouthy and aggressive loveable Essex bloke ‘Jaeq McFaeq’.
Musically this album includes all my loves and history, electro, house, funk, jazz, soul, broken beat, and my lifelong skills, singing, keyboards, drum programming, percussion, flute, dance, choreography, art, song writing, and music production. I am incredibly proud of this work, and my family and friends have all been involved, either as cameos, artwork designers, stylists, video directors, dancers, car stuntmen. We have had 18 months of great memories together creating this album. I have also travelled to Brazil and India to tour and play with incredible musicians to enrich the present influences to the retro sounds of ‘The Clique of ‘86’ bringing this psychological journey to its natural end in 2025.’
With Rob Mullarkey on mix engineering and star bass turn on Queendom of Sound, Nick Watson from Fluid Mastering, and long time friend Villain on album design the project is complete.
'Queendom of Sound' and 'Mind Your Business' have currently been on the Jazzfm B and C playlist for Aug/Sep/Oct 2025.

Stubbs’ impressive versatility as an instrumentalist, songwriting prowess and her sense of fun shine through across this tight set of tracks. Nostalgia can go very wrong when an artist seems to be cosplaying, wrapping themselves in the trappings of another time. Kinzoogianna however is so authentically herself, that this is never a risk. She playfully navigates her way through her love of 80s music and culture, while always having a foot firmly in the present.
This triumphant album will have listeners coming back time and again.

Gold For the Hungry Souls
'Gold For The Hungry Souls' is the debut album from Kinzoogianna AKA Anna Stubbs, the multi-talented singer-songwriter and keyboard player from the ground breaking Nu Jazz and Broken Beat band Brotherly.
An epic vocal and keys driven collection of quirky, sophisticated yet memorable Nu Jazz Soul grooves, Stubbs is showcasing all her talents as a vocalist, writer, keys player, drum programmer, recording engineer and producer. The album blends stories from her adventurous and turbulent California/Essex upbringing, her London life as a musician, and her relationships, with her reflective time during the Covid Pandemic.
The songs were written while transcribing and improvising over songs she loves by artists including Rotary Connection, Bill Evans, Herbie Hancock, Steely Dan, McCoy Tyner, Joni Mitchell, Stevie Wonder and Wayne Shorter. Having to record at home, in isolation, she threw herself into the process, using her trusty Nord, an SM7 mic, a UA 6176 Pre-amp, Logic Pro X software, YouTube tutorial videos and lots of red wine.
She collaborated with Rob Mullarkey (other half of Brotherly, Jacob Collier bassist, and the album's mixing engineer) and Richard Spaven (Jordan Rakei, Jose James, Ty) for this album, their virtuosity and reputation as the best drum and bass crew in London (possibly the world!) perfectly match her album's odd-time signatures, unexpected harmony and deeply personal subject matter.
'Cinnamon Bun', out on February 4th 2022, on Brotherly Music/Kudos Records, is the first single to be released from 'Gold For The Hungry Souls'. It's been described as 'A London Sunday out walking, and bumping into The Isley Brothers', and optimistically eases you into the rich and sometimes knotty tapestry of the album.
'Night Train' out on March 4th 2022, is the second single release from the album, and is a jazz influenced electronic/live instrument banger telling a story of someone returning from the big city to rescue a friend from mediocrity.
'Four Letter Word' out on April 8th, is a song about something the writer has a complicated relationship with. Swear words, cuss words, used in every which way! The time signature is in 15/4, but cleverly written so it feels natural, just as using these special words feels natural, and makes us feel good, even though the use of them is forbidden, much like modern music forbids odd times signatures and challenging harmony.
'Mexico' out 13th May 2022, is the fourth release from the album, featuring soaring vocals, heavy piano and rhodes riffs in the style of Rotary Connection's 'I Am The Blackgold of the Sun'. As it was written during lockdown, it tackles pandemic themes, and a wish for travel and adventure.
